IOL implantation has revolutionised cataract surgery which has totally replaced the previous intra capsular extraction. You may certainly under go the IOL surgery on your ophthalmologist advice who may decide the type of lens to be used after performing all necessary tests including ‘A’ scan etc., when he may decide about the use of a flexible IOL or otherwise in your case!
Now a days even advanced cataract operations like Phacolysis etc., also available which may be advised by your consulting ophthalmologist.

I feel it is my duty to let you know that cataract surgery isn’t always successful. I had cataract surgery in 2004 in both eyes my left retina detached but I got surgery on it a day later I see well with it. A detached retina happens 1 in a thousands so in is very rare.
My step father had it done his was very successful. He would get excited every time he had surgery done.
I work in a hospital and the volunteers there had cataract surgery they were vary happy with theirs.

I like the idea of an accommodative IOL like the Crystal Lens better than the multi focal lens like the Resume or Array. If you can’t accommodate with your IOL, you will be in the same place you would have been if you had a conventional IOL except a few thousand dollars poorer. With the multifocal lenses you may have a lot of glare and halos. I would not have clear lens exchange with an accommodative IOL in an effort to increase my ability to see at near.
