The way I understand it is that the probe stimulates a part of the brain, this releases neurotransmiters and affects others.
Between endorphins, serotonin, and miriads of others you would have countless possibilities.
I don’t think the probe causes the emotion naturally.
In normal existence our moods can create these chemicals.
But you really raise a very important issue, is this really more physical?
Someday we may get an answer.
