How does surgery affect sleeping patterns?

My 89 year aged parents mother has not long ago undergone vital surgery. She came turn from the pain-killer as well as was utterly manageable the following day though has slept soundly currently (day 2 after op), all day. The anesthesiologist as well as expert do not appear to have any thought because this is. Does any one here have the identical experience, reason or recommendation please? Thank you.

your grandmother is 89. i’m surprised she was so
responsive the next day. if she’s on pain medication such as an
opiate, it would make her sleepy.
there are many other classes of drugs
that can cause drowsiness. can’t really give an informed opinion
without knowing what drugs she’s receiving.
