That is defiantly not normal. Blood is drained during the surgery so that no swelling should occur! Call the hospital immediately.

Carpal tunnel refers to the bones in the wrist, of which there are 8 carpal bones that line up in two rows, interact with the metacarpal(top of the fingers). the index and middle fingers tells me that flexor and extendor tendons are affected by the bones. So when you do repeative work, like working on the computer with your hands in the wrong position it pushes against the nerves cutting the circulation. After surgery it can take 6months to a year to completely heal.
Sugguestion: time to cleans your system, which sounds like is needing it. Start with Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar 1oz in the morning/afternoon or evening once a day with water, honey, & molasses. Or mix in sweet juice(cranberry/grape juice) for a period 1-3 weeks then you can increase to twice a day. This will clean your system out and help with the healing. Then when the swelling goes down, you should get massage of the arm and hand and make sure that the therapist does reflexology on the hand.

I would certainly discuss the swelling with your doctor. Swelling is not unusual but it's best to let a professional take a look to determine the severity.
