How long does a baby have to go without eating before surgery?

My son will have to have split mouth operation during 3 months. How most hours would he have to go but eating before to a surgery? we goal the not 8 hours similar to adults since which would be approach as well long!

    babies, like adults, must go several hours without eating or drinking anything before a surgery that requires general anesthesia. The reason is that eating or drinking before recieving anesthesia can cause vomitting, which can then be aspirated because the person is anesthesized it becomes even more likely to be aspirated, this is very dangerous especially in infants. The anesthesiologist will tell you how long your baby will have to go without eating or drinking before surgery but even if it seems excessive to you, follow their directions because if you don’t it could be fatal for your baby.
