You can safely have your kitten neutered at 6 months of age.
Routine feline neuters are the quickest and simplest elective surgery out there! Most vets do not even intubate because the procedure is so quick! The actual procedure itself is about 5-7 minutes!
And the patient will completely wake up within minutes after the anesthetic is turned off.
If it is a male It usually only takes about 3-7 minutes. It is very simple. It doesnt even require any sutures. They usually wake up within a hour after surgery but they are still very "drunk" from the anethesia so they like for them to spend the night at the clinic so they can sleep it off.
It normally takes 5-10 minutes total. I believe they normally start waking up in less than an hour. It usually takes a couple of days for them to get back to normal.
It takes longer to anaesthetise them than it does to do the op. It is very quick. Depending on the anaesthetic they use it can take 30 – 60 mins to wake up. Most UK ones now use a combination one where you can inject them with a reversal agent which they start waking up within 20 mins. They can be a bit groggy for a while after though but no reason why you shouldn’t get him home the same day

A male is about 15 minutes of surgery, it goes pretty quickly. But they take a little time to come out of the anesthesia.
