Don't forget it 99% also depends on the condition of the patient BEFORE surgery. Say a traffic accident victim came in for surgery and his head was torn to bits, but surgery might save his or her life. Chances are higher that the person might die during surgery. Which brings up the statistic. But if no surgery were done at all the patient would die for sure. If you are in good health before surgery (heart, weight etc) No worries. 99.9999% success rate I'd say.
