How soon after surgery can I go swimming in a public swimming pool?

I had operation to mislay my gall bladder upon a 10th of March, as well as we had my staples out upon Monday gone, how shortly can we go swimming as well as do we need to put a sauce upon a wounds to cover them?
I had keyhole surgery, that we had to get 3 cuts.

You definitely should call up your Doctor or his nurse to be sure you are receiving the correct information. you dont want to get a nasty infection. Public pools are infested with bacteria. I know it sounds gross but its unfortunately true

I’d wait 4-6 weeks to make sure you’re healed…(and no don’t put things on the incision.) You should have asked the Dr/surgeon this question.

..the doctor should be consulted in this instance.. chance of infections to the wound is good..

hm i think if your doctor didn’t give you any instructions about avoiding things then you should be fine, when i had surgery i was told exactly what i could and couldn’t do afterwards

Did you have to have the long surgery or the laparoscopic surgery?

I can’t imagine laparo surgery that hasn’t healed by now.

If you had traditional long scar surgery, I’d stay out of the pool until your wound doesn’t require dressing anymore. Take it easy, tho. They had to cut some pretty important muscles, and they need time to heal before you start using them.

I had surgery for gall bladder a few months ago. They tried to do it the easy way, but it wasn’t working so they had to do the more invasive method. Since other surgeries came before and after…it was a long rehab.

Don’t go swimming until the wounds are completely healed. Its not hygienic for you or other people :)

Maybe your doctor would be more qualified to answer this question for you!

You should really ask your doctor.

I would leave it a couple more weeks…reaosn being that even if your wound is healed your immune system is not. I made the mistake of swimming in a public pool shortly after a surgical procedure that did not even involve me being cut (keyhole) and I got the WORST bout of tonsilitis ever the next day.

I would wait until the incision is completely healed. You don’t want any germs getting inside…
