First you will get there and they will have you put on a hospital gown.
Next they will ask you and your parents a bunch of medical questions.
Then they will put an IV in your arm, Its not really painful, just a little bit uncomfortable.
Once you have the IV they can give you some medicine to help you relax.
Then they will take you to the surgery room
They will have you move to the surgery table and probably wash your ankle over and over again. They will drape some blanket type things over your leg to keep everything clean.
    Then you go to sleep.
As for the tube down the throat (intibation) if that happens it will be after you are asleep. You wont even know it.
And the bladder thing (cathader) you probably wont have one, but if you do they will do that when your asleep.
Then when you wake up you should be in the recovery room.
They will make sure you are not in pain, all you have to do is ask for medicine.
As for the pain, they will give you medicine for that. Also your ankle will probably be sore for awhile.
    Good Luck

Worst thing for me upon waking from the surgeries I’ve had is the sore throat. That s*cks. It goes away though. YOu’ll get checked in, then they’ll take ur vitals, have you change into a gown, and a surgical cap. You may wait for a while before they take you back to the Pre-Op area. Usually when you get there, it’s not very long until they take you back to the OR. Then either they’ll transfer you to the table, or ask you to scootch on over. (When I do this, I take the time to look around, and ask questions.) Before you go into the OR, you’ll speak with an anasthesiologist, and that is a very good idea to comunicate with him about your concerns about going under. When they get ready to do the surgery, you’ll have a mask put over your nose and mouth, and they’ll tell you to just breath. after a short amount of time, you’ll feel yourself getting high(that’s the only way I can desribe it in all honesty, and it’s really a neat feeling). You may hear them talking, but it’ll seem very far away, and then boom, you’re out like a light bulb! They will scrub your ankle with either Iodine, or Betadine, both which will make your ankle appear to be orange for maybe a week after the surgey, maybe more…who knows! Then after you pass through the ‘excitement’ phase of the anasthesia, well, that’s whn they’ll stick that ole tube down your throat. You won’t be aware of it. The next thing you’ll remember is becoming awake, and maybe even remember the tube being pulled out (I always do for some reason), and then they’ll take you to the Recovery room. Remember, don’t be afraid to ask for pain meds, or the bed pan. That’s what the nurses are there for. They may or may not catherterize you (the tube that goes into your bladder.) To my knowledge, I’ve never been catherized before. You may want to go to the bathroom before hand. If not, that’s ok. It should be ok, and try not to stress about it. Easier said than done I know, but take some deep breaths before hand, and try to t hink of something that calms you. I’ve discovered this neat trick for going under. You may be really scared breathing in the anasthetic, so think of a nice pretty place you’d like to be. Helps me alot.
