What happens if during heart surgery on one patient, if an emergency happened and they also needed surgery?

What if an additional surgeon is unavailable? Are there regularly backups as well as what happens in a incident such as this-if something had to be finished right afterwards for a puncture studious who indispensable heart surgery, right away?

Many doctors are on-call, so they can be called in at any time they may be needed. Also, if there wasn’t one available at that hospital, they could transfer the patient to another hospital. But like you said, it is an emergency, so I would imagine they would do their best to accommodate both patients and prioritise their conditions.

They would always have a surgeon available, as well as a list of surgeons that can be called in incase of a serious emergency, so both surgeries would occur and surgeons cannot stop halfway through a surgery
