Go to a dimly lit room and lay back and close your eyes. Try to focus on a single thing or thought. Most people prefer to pray. But take you time, don’t rush, and pursue every intricate detail of your thought. The focus will relieve the stress and calm your nerves.
Also, I will pray that your surgery is a sucess.
I hear that prayer is stronger when other people do it for you.

1) Breathe. Take a bathe. Go to bed early. Watch a funny money. You NEED to get your mind off of this surgery.
2) It’s going to be all about how you go into the surgery. Try to go in with a good mindset. Nothing is giong to happen, and you’re going to come out feeling better in the long run. Smile.

Pray, be with someone you love, not to talk, just to feel their reassuring presence, and try to sleep. If you’re still allowed to drink some water that may help your nausea, but not too cold.

There isn’t much you can do really, except watching your favorite comedy.
You can’t really eat or drink anything tonight either, can you.

Take the hottest bubble bath you can stand, light the candles, put on some soft music and meditate…go to a happy place!

Im sure the headache and nausea is due to your nerves. First of all relax! They will give you something before the surgery to help you relax. You cant really take any OTC meds because of the surgery. Take a warm bath and get some sleep. Good Luck!

Ibuprofen belongs to the aspirin family of painkillers. If you can’t take this, there are others which your doctor can prescribe. The nausea can be brought on by your fear. If it’s really bad, ask the doctor if he can give you something to calm you down, like Lexotan or Tranxene. Or read all you can of this surgery you’re going to have so you know what you can expect. Since we only fear the unknown, the less unknown the better. All the best to you.

meditation. Sit still, take deep breaths, and focus on your breathing. let thoughts go in and out, and focus only on your breathing.
we have to do this for Kung Fu and it works.
Good luck tomorrow, you’ll be fine.

Maybe read a little, or watch some tv. Get some good sleep and eat a good breakfast in the morning. Keep someone with humor around, this will help you alot to lighten up your situation.
Just go into it being very strong…. know that anything that happens will happen for a good and meaningful reason, and there is always a new day tomorrow, so just take it one step at a time. There are at least 5 people in the world that love you dearly and will walk with you through anything and everything.
Good luck!!! Ill be praying for you:)

I think the best way to calm down is take your mind off it by doing something you enjoy, like watching a good movie. You may also try to put a cold wash cloth on your head to help get rid of the headache.

I am having a hard time deciding if & how to answer your question. Because you failed to state what type of surgery your preparing to have. If it’s for an abortion, then I have no desire to ease your headache… If it is a general surgery I’d suggest a warm bath, candles & soft music. You’re going to fine, every one has these feelings before any surgery. Do some light reading, take deep breaths & relax. I hope you have family or friends going with. It’s scarey doing it solo, but I’ve done it. Just add a few more prayers of thanks for the life you have. Good Luck … Let us know how it works out. I think what kind of operation you’re having should be included in your ?? so others can relate to a gall bladder or what ever your having operated on.

There is a drug that combines help for nausea and makes you sleepy. It is called phenergan. Your doctor can prescibe the correct dosage. You can also have an antianxiety drug prescibed in a low dose along with anti nausea drug. If you don’t want drugs—try a relaxing bath and ask for a foot rub. Always calms me down. You could also talk on the phone and chatter away or ask a friend over for comfort and distraction. Funny movies work, too. Make sure it is really funny. Best of luck. B

what i try and do is think about a couple of days in the future. about how the surgery will be over. i just got surgery thursday and i was nervous to. but trust me as soon as they give you the IV before surgery you will feel just fine. now for a head ache you can try and tie something like a shirt or something tight around your head. that usually works for a little bit. and what i do to sleep when i cant is slowly count down from a high number in my head. usually count each time i exhale and if i start thinking of something else i start over. good luck and i hoped i helped.
