Laparotomy or open surgery is considered a major operation as a full incision is done and the hospital stay is about 3-4 days. Recovery would take about 10-14 days. She started coming back to work part time around 3-4 weeks after the surgery and then full time at the 6 weeks check up. The doctor should also give you some hormone medication to make everything even out gradually. I would not wish this on anyone. I am sooo sorry you are having to go through this! Take care.
