Well, I was awake, so it wasn’t that bad. My mouth did get tired for opening my mouth for a while. The procedure for me took 45 minutes for extracting two of them (if my memory serves me right). There was a lot of drooling, I think for over a day. The first time around, I learned I needed more gauge pads for the bleeding. Also, the pain was excruciating because I didn’t take the painkillers my dentist prescribed me because I had a hard time swallowing it with blood in my mouth. Lesson for you to learn is to take the painkiller when you wake up and have it. You don’t want to wait to feel pain and then take it. You need time for it to kick in. The pain came after the numbing went away in a few hours. I was advised to use ice or an icepack on both cheeks for 15 minutes and repeat. You should as well to avoid looking like a chipmunk (puffy cheeks) because I did not repeat for a long time. Later on, I got my last two wisdom teeth removed. Because of my first experience, I took what I learned. No pain and I didn’t look like a chipmunk. Another tip: cover your pillow with a towel or something, so you don’t have blood stains. Eat and drink a lot before the surgery. You are lucky to be put to sleep, so calm down. Hope this helps.

ask for lots of ibuprofen 800 mg or stronger (non drowsy) and hydrocodon (drowsy) for when u wanna knock out!
and take the pills ON TIME, even if you DONT FEEL PAIN, because the minute u wait for the pain to hit, you’re gonna wish u never even had teeth bcuz ur whole mouth hurts and shoots the pain to ur head!
beware of dry socket! that slows down the healing process

There are so many factors to consider. Your sex, your weight, your metabolism, your general health, etc… And since oral surgeons are not just some Joe off the street they know what they are doing.
I had my wisdom teeth taken out the day after high school graduation. I ran track and cross country so I was in good shape. I also got the IV and was KO’d before I knew it. I don’t remember what pain medication they prescribed but I didn’t take any after the first full day at home. Just make sure you eat soft foods like jello, ice cream and pudding and you should be OK. I was back on my feet 100% in three days. Also, I didn’t have an issue with dry sockets, and i know some people do.
