Great video. My girlfriend is going into surgery next week, so I was trying to figure out what is going to happen. This was very informative, however I don’t think I’ll be showing her the video until she’s recovered.

This is exactly what im gonna do. It will hurt when you dont work out everyday. i tore my ACL playing basketball. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS GET YOUR RANGE OF MOTION BACK AND WORK OUT ON YOUR KNEEE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. THE MORE MUSCLE YOU GO IN BEFORE SURGERY. THE FASTER IT WILL HEAL! =]

It’s pretty bad. I am three weeks out and still managing the pain and soreness with pain killers. I am finally walking alright, but I won’t lie its a long healing process. Expect to be totally out of commission for the first week or so followed by a slow recovery with lots of physical therapy. GL

I had that done almost 3 months ago, sht was hurtfu but here’s a tip make sure you try to start therapy as soon as the first or 2 week, getting your knee straight and make sure you follow the exercises the therapiest gives you… don’t rush anything, better safe than sorry… good luck…

i had this surgery on my left knee 6 months ago and am about 90% back to normal. i used my patella tendon and have had no complications. the surgery was a total success! painful, but good!

no ur knee will never be the same
u might get back to about 80 or 85% like u were before
definitely take rehab serious cuz the more u do that the more ull get back

Had mine done 2 weeks ago and was walking without crutches within a couple days. Felt a little nausious when I woke up but all in all I’d have to say that watching this video was actually worse than getting it done. Good luck to you, I wish ya a speedy recovery. Oh yeah I start 6 weeks of physio tomorrow.

Couple days. you should be putting weight on it as soon as possible for as much as you can bear. Keep the pillow under your leg under the ankle, it will hurt but in the long run your therapie will be easier since you want your leg to straiten out more then bend, the bending will come with walking.

Why cant they just havest your patella or hamstring. you dont have to wait for a cadaver. Muscle cadavers ar nothing like waiting for a heart. they have them there in the hospital. Must be wrokmans comp. and if it is i see why your waiting. ask questions

I am also on a waiting list, my doctor says it will be between 6months and a year. This is through the public health system.

wow…i’m getting mine done in about a month. how long are you on bedrest after the surgery? and whats better, a cadaver graft or one taken from your own tissue?

i did mine 1.5 month ago… i walked 3 days ago… the first few days after the surgery were painful.. any patient must do 2 things: 1)good therapies after and 2) (and most importand) be patient!

I would be checking your insurance. never heard of a waiting list. ive had two acl surgeries in 8 months one was my hamstring harvested and the second was a cadaver. both surgeries took place two weeks from my first dr. appointment. and i only have an hmo
