I’m glad I found your video because it has made me feel better about all this. I’m sorry to hear it came back. My nodule is pretty small, it hasn’t grown out of my thyroid yet but has possibly spread to some lymph nodes. I’m having surgery soon and I’m scared shitless, but it must be done. How are you doing now?

I’m really Really REALLY SCARED! Ok i’m 13, my voice sounds like I inhaled a bunch of balloons. I cough a lot…. usually some very dark green stuff, and I was watching Doctor Oz. The thing were u pour water and feel if u have a tumor under ur adams apple. I felt one.. Please reply, should I get surgery, DOES IT HURT?!!! Are you awake when they take the surgery, and also how long does it hurt after?!!! please answer!!! I’m going to take it in a while.
And how much does it cost?!!!?!!:!?!!?!!

@Shrtnsweet01 ah, I’m so sorry for replying late. I was 16 when I got mine out. Don’t worry, PTC is really treatable with surgery and some radiation.

My surgery was about 7 hours due to the fact that I had 5 tumors. I don’t think that’s common in most cases so I’d expect your operation to be shorter.

oh my god. i’m so glad i’m not the only one who went through this. mine went from ear to ear, like yours. but they took out like, 130 lyphnods, or something like that outa my neck. and actually this friday i go back for more surgery. I’m so glad i’m not the only one. :]

It depends what kind of thyroid cancer you have.

My neck was always a little “puffier” or larger almost my whole life. It wasn’t til I was about 18 that one of my doctors took the situation seriously and I had an ultra sound, which found the tumors. Just last summer I was officially declared cancer free. I was twenty than.

You will be okay!!! Just stay positive. This will not control you’re life. I promise!

About lymph nodes. . . I remember the first really bad cold I had after having surgery and having it be so strange that none of my lymph nodes were swollen . . . than I remembered “Oh yeah, those don’t exist anymore!”

I agree!! I love my battle scare too =D.

For a while I would always tell people that It was from the thyroid cancer, than I started having some fun with it =p. “what happened to your neck.” . . . “I got into a pretty nasty knife fight, but I kicked that guys ass!!!”

I dunno how big my tumors were in comparison to most, but I think one was like 4cm, and two more were like 1.5cm. I don’t really quite remember exactly though.

well the tumor on my thyroid was pretty large, and so were the lymph nodes which were distributed pretty evenly through out my neck. it was like a golfball on my thyroid and 5 little gumballs in my neck. :P

I love my battle scar! It’s weird for new people to see since they get scared, but it’s a symbol of my hardship that I’ve overcome. It makes me feel confident and I love that it’s prominent. The visually aesthetic appeal means nothing to me.

I really hate to say this but I am almost upset about how large they made your incision. Of course I know nothing about your particular case, I just don’t think it should have been that large.

  • bangbangching
    December 9th, 2010 at 1:02 am

Wow. When I had thyroid cancer they removed my entire thyroid and 5 lymph-nodes and my incision was about 1/3rd that size…

You can barely see it now.
