I found this band because of a 21st century schizoid man by king crimson radio station on Pandora.

You have to take into account that Metallica did those two Budgie covers just as their artistic legitimacy had ended, as did Van Halen with “In for the Kill”. When the well’s dry, just crank out some half-assed covers of shit no one’s ever heard before. Notice that Metallica never covered Wishbone Ash. If they had, everyone would have realized how hard Metallica pole jocks Wishbone Ash, as well as Budgie and similar proto-metal.

@starchem1 Hardly. The music is fine, but the vocals sound like a young Ozzy on helium. James vocals were way grungier and better for the song.

I think that comparing Budgie to Metallica regarding this song… Each one of them add their own thing into the song… I’d say the original is more towards and heavier rock, as said, kinda like zeplin, more or less.
Metallica plays it really more heavy. at the end of the day, I guess it’s a matter of taste…
For me, this is a good song, either being played for Metallica or Budgie

Vocals etc quite Led Zep here, nevertheless another excellent offering by the legendary Welsh trio. Rockfield studios in S. Wales was a magic acoustics place to record HM too.

I think the Metallica version suffers from the same problem as their cover of Diamond Head’s “Helpless”, which is that Hetfield’s vocal style didn’t really suit the song. A lot of Metallica’s covers are better than the originals, but this isn’t one of them.
