    there is no downfall. I if the MGB works then its done its job. What needs to be understood is that it is no an easy way out . People who explore surgery have 2 ways of looking at it. 1 a spring board to weight loss. or 2 something that will sovle your weight issue forever. Anybody who has had any surgery will tell you the second school of thought can be dangerous.

    @ocpud2999
    If you knew anything about the MGB you would know that this is the only Gastric Bypass that is reveresable if need be. So where is the down fall?

    eating small portions and you are supposed to eat 1 hour after you wake up and then 4-5 hours later then another 4-5 hours later this keeps your matabolism working all day so your body is constantly breaking down food

    its not a easy way out its a tool to help you and you can either change the way u eat or not but the surgury doesnt do it all for you because if you dont change the way you eat you will go back to how you were there are many that go to taco bell or whatever right out of the hospitol and they dont loose the weight so it is hard

    It is not an easy way out to keep it off you have to count calries and eat a strict eating plan. Surgery offers a jumpstart to change your eating habbits and become more active. Although the first option is to change yeating habbit before tkaing on such a dangerous surgery. once you have done surgery there is no backing out

    do oyu know how many calires you are taking in?
    If not I would go to a website like spark people,. It is what I use to track my workouts and calories.

    It is not as easy as you think. If you dont change your habbits. you could gain all back. IT is no easy way out. Although I do think surgery should be for people who either have serious health issues or very obese. I do hope she sticks with it. it will be a long road.

    Your calorie intake is too high. Calculate how many calories you take in on an average day and compare that with what you burn on an average day.

    “I was 272 pounds, I am 150 today!” Congratz, you sat on an operating table and had your body altered to be thinner. Idiots that lost weight slow with hard work, changing eating habits, and exercise… Those IDIOTS.

    I weighed more than you just 6 months ago and surgery was never an option for me. At 272 lbs you can still exercise and eat well. That’s all I’ve done and lost 85 pounds in 6 months. Surgery is a cheap way out!

    in response to lewbec: if your husband is morbidly obese (a person usually has to be, in order to qualify for the surgery) and you found him unconcious on the floor one day, rushed to the ER and diagnosed with an MI (myocardial infarction, aka heart attack) and you had been told it’s this or gastric bypass, would you choose the same? People DIE from obesity related diseases. He has an infection, it’s being treated (is the wound healing by secondary intention?) he will be OK.

    Check out the Quantum Scale. It never Shows how much you weigh. It only shows you much you have lost or gained from the time you start a diet. Way Cool !!

    which is open due to an infection caught I would not wish what he is going through on my worst enemy. its not just what it does to the patient but what it does to your family we genuinely did not think he would make it though the night on wednesday and if he had been told its this or stay as you are (after several attempts to diet/exercise etc) he would have stayed as he was he lost 28lb in 2 days with the illness and we dont know when he is due home i just hope it is soon

    People need to seriously need to consider the consequences of the operation. There are so many people on here saying it is giving them the confidence to have it done yes she looks amazing and well done but my husband went through the same surgery two weeks ago and was released from hospital only to be re-admitted and has been in for nearly another week now with no date on when he can come back out he has a 12 inch gaping wound
    cont/d…..
