none of those are bacteria. Hypothyroidism and the others you mentioned do not ‘generate’ fat, by ‘generate’ i mean create fat without excessive ingestion, if you were on the medications you mentioned you can prevent excessive weight-gain by altering your diet

OK. hypothyroidism, cushing’s syndrome, and an over production of normal flora in the intestinal tract, depression, some medications such a antihypertensives, anitepeleptic, and corticosteroids can do it too. Like I said look it up there is even more. I’m a RN and not overweight, I have just studied many disease processes and have had morbid obese patients and once thought like you. But these people have an obsession sickness usually and both are medical conditions. But exercise and diet is good

i apologise if i caused offense, that was not my intention. my point was that education in the young is key and that measures should most definately be put in place to aid those trying to lose weight, and indeed those who already have to help them maintain their healthier weight. i agree criticism gets you nowhere, however it is the way people are which is deeply unfortunate.
however i am still of the opinion that it is completely preventable, no question, as i said, no condition generates fat

Why does it sour you swanscoe. I had a gastric band because I am addicted to food…pure and simple. I am reasonably active, I am a carer a mother and work for my husband. I lost nearly 6 stone but because of problems with the band and my own problem have put 2 back on. I go swimming 3 times a week and do salsa classes, but still people have a go. if i was a druggie or alcoholic people would fall over to help me. You can live your life without those but not food. we need help not critisism.

don’t lose your desire to get healthier, that is going to be key to your weight-loss, i agree with bikBBW, cutting out processed foods and those high in saturated fats is true, another key is exercise. if you don’t like the idea of going to the gym then don’t, walking is ideal in this case. start slow. don’t try and go full pelt initially, go walking with friends and make it FUN!! picture yourself as you want to be and you can do it, everyone can if they put the effort in. best of luck my friend

what sours me is that obesity is completely and utterly preventable! there is no condition that generates fat, if you can name one then contact some sort of medical journal; people with Prada-Willi syndrome is not an exception. without intake of largely excessive amounts of food, you cannot become obese, simple as. what is key to tackling this issue is education, especially in the young. food needs to be viewed differently and a healthy and active lifestyle is absolutely key

    For Amirr84 :
First of all, excuse my english (i’m French).
Obesity may be a pathology for some people who can not be cured with a simple diet.

If you think people have weak wills to have such an operation, suffer, and eat only minimal quantities of food to life: sorry but you are an asshole.

This surgery is a miracle and prolong many lives, both for people who have physical or mental pathologies towards food.

I know where u’re coming from Kribaby76, as I too have a similar amount to lose but I have to agree with Diablos. It’s very important to STOP eating salty foods. U DON’T have to eat Less to lose weight. Less calories doesn’t equal less food. Eating more WHOLE FOODS & less process foods means U can eat like 10 plums for 1 chocolate bar. U can eat MORE when u cut out the processed foods. I know it’s really hard giving up the foods that u love but it does works, I’ve already lost 50 lbs doing this.

Very good and enlightening video. Dr. Wittgrove is compassionate and edifying when it comes to misperceptions about weight issues and the accompanying social and economic prejudice.

A lot of morbidly obese people have so much excess skin after losing weight, that it has to be surgically removed. Exercising will not make your skin tighten, the elastin is damaged in the skin and that is what causes it to be so stretched and hanging down.

  • galaxylover135
    March 30th, 2009 at 9:19 pm

It is perfectly okay to work out but if your skin is so stretched there is no way in hell that you can ‘prevent’ skin hanging. The surgery only changes your eating habits nothing else is affected

I have this questions after watching the whole video. Is it possible to work out while losing and prevent “skin hanging”?

  • AnatomaniaK
    March 30th, 2009 at 9:19 pm

blocking agent generated by duodenum, hormones generated by fat cells. it is an unfortunate situation.

good for you. i think all insurance companies need to remember that it is in their best interest to do the surgery.
