I was 100% ready to go home about a day or less after the surgery. I was scheduled to be at the hospital for 3 days. I wanted to leave the hospital about 8 hours after the surgery. They let me go home before the scheduled time – which would have been free to me, covered by my insurance. I simply was ready to go home. You are 100% wrong.

thx, buchey, for sharing this. I’m going to stay with my brother in California next month to take care of him through the surgery, so if u OR your Mom have any advice on how to make this easier for him, plz let me know. I’m a massage therapist & wondering if light neck massage might help him, & maybe ice packs to the head. You’re information was really helpful. Thx, Sierra

did you get the upper or lower jaw done, or both?

a couple small plates are placed at the time of the surgery, which helps heal much faster than in older days when plates were now placed. They stay forever, which is no problem at all, I don’t notice them. I’ve never heard of a risk of a jaw completely fracturing – mine didn’t. I doubt that’s true. go ask an oral surgeon all your questions, he’ll tell you all about it.

I hear afterwards you get plates and screws into your Jaw, after all the healing is done, do those plates and screws ever come out? Or stay in there forever? And someone said there is a risk that your jaw could completely shatter, how?

if you truly think you need it then go for it, im a year into, i feel its held me back all my life, i dont wanna get to the end of my life and think what if, so even if it doesnt come out the way i want it, least i tried. Just make sure you understand all the implications of the process :)
