@AlanSessler They make a large incision in the front on the right or left side of the abdomen, just below the waistline, near the hipbone area…it looks like a sideways smile. My incision is about 12 inches long. They do not remove the “native” kidneys unless they have to. I have three kidneys, two do not work.
When they transplant a kidney, I read that they rarely remove the diseased kidneys, so that they place it near your abdomen. My question is this: do they make the incision on your front or back to put the kidney in?
and if you don’t to it then you are gonna be on dialysis and meds for the rest of your life as well so it is kinda the same but you can travel more freely if you get a transplant. I know this because i’ve been dialysis for almost a year and i have to work around on dialysis if i travel…plan ahead, find a dialysis center where i am planning to go and all that

You’ll be on medication for the rest of your life. And you’ll have restrictions for some kinds of food.
