Im 16 and i play basketball and i found out i was born with mine and started showing during hard weightlifting and running. So anyone whos trying to play basketball or football who has one i highly recommend not to play cause at first it feels fine then it starts to gradually get sore when you walk.

I got a Hernia Question for you people out their that had the operation done. I had Hernia Surgery done right above my belly button 8 years or so ago. I am wondering do you guys still feel the bump even after surgery? I can feel the bump but only difference is I can’t push in back into my stomach anymore. I know its is actually bump and is not the scar tissue. Thanks Please let me know!

Haha, don’t worry, I had my surgery 2-3 years ago and never felt better. Mine was done laparoscopically, not opened (takes longer to heal). The Dr. told me mine was one of the biggest he seen, so really, no matter how bad it is, you should be fine. The worst it will get is on the day of the surgery (after), you’ll be a little drugged up from the morphine and afterwards he will probably just prescribe you vicodin just for pain sake. It took me a week to fully recover.

Don’t be scared, it is a small operation, the next day you won’t feel the pain that you felt before and you can walk again.

Very systematic video about hernia repair and operations. I have learned a lot from the video. The same with Symposier site, have time to visit the site, and there you will see more updates about hernia and related diseases presented.

How big are the scars with laparoscopic surgery on this type of hernia? fotos? I have a budoir foto-shoot the second week of October and need exercise prep before this still, when able after op? It is not necessary for taking anti-rejection meds for the mesh op I hope. If so, alrenatives to mesh?

Hey there, I had a Left Inguinal Hernia repaired two days ago, they also used the mesh in me. It’s not been any fun but it’s getting much better quicker. I have to go today and have a drain bag and tube removed, don’t know what else. As for the mesh I don’t feel it at all like some people said I would. I’ve been walking often, but it’s really sore.

I had an inguinal hernia on the right side of my groin, they used the mesh method and I woke up about two hours after I went in for surgery. That day and the day after were pretty tough but after that I felt fine. I was fully recovered in about two weeks but I could walk around fine after about 4-5 days.

Do you need to have this done if your hernia is really small like an inch long and half an inch wide?

My doctor did NOT use laser but a regular scalpel. He told me that it wouldn’t feasible in my case to go through my navel. If you have a choice, I’d go with the “scope”, as it’s less invasive and your recovery time is even faster, since you won’t have a long incision to deal with. Today even if you go with an incision, it’s not a big cut and you’re done before you know it! I went to sleep and when I woke up, I felt refreshed and just great!! You’ll do fine!!

In answer to your question, my hernia was repaired by the surgeon making about a 2 to 3 inch incision. Yes, he did suture a mesh pad in me and I was sedated. My hernia was in the lower left groin. In my case, he told me my lower left abdominal “floor” was collapsed and bulged out. I went into surgery for 8am and was awake and done by 9:15am. Left the surgery center 15 or 20 minutes later. It was a breeze and you should have no problems! Relax! Get it done and you’ll be better for it!
