What the fuk..its a fukn disgrace..not coz its titles SURGERY, but its coz its my culture..Samoa they talkin about..you probz not even samoan..so shut the fuk up..call me a fukn wanker..
Tthe operation to become a 100% complete women consists of the following procedure 1/ cut of testicles 2/ hormone pills to grow breasts 3/ tuck the penis inside to form vagina 4/ shrink brain and make mouth bigger
again your argument has many flaws yes the fafa has changed in a western point of view with clothing and whatever, but again it existed before COLONISATION. As apart of our culture and you threw in the warrior aspect as if that had any relevance to the argument. Please make a valid argument with relevant evidence instead of making random comments with no proper substance
again GENDER ROLES frost fafa’s were believed to embody both the female and male spirits – pre colonisation view in Samoa and were part of different ceremonies what i am saying is that it existed before colonisation as part of our culture it is not a new entity …and the warriors part yes true but what i ma saying is that things like f’afa and womens and mens samoan social roles have changed to some extent
tell us how it is a part of our culture? you seem to know everything about it? Before palagi’s came to samoa young men where tattoo’d given the tatau when they hit puberty, our men where warriors there was no time to be a fafa, if anything it was the palagi’s that introduced homosexuality along with christianity i am not saying homosexuality never egsisted in samoa, im sure it was around but no men ever expressed it, obviousley it would of been extreemly hard and difficult to come out with it.
Cutting long story short : if u are non of us spending transgendered life, you may just asume how it might be ..BTW: it’s not a bad or a good thing to judge, being or not TS ! You born with non clasic DNA actualy and not all of us are Gay! The most pretty TS womans are native beautiful with no FFS or breast implants Botox or whatever fake production. Wish you both plenty of luck in yr own judgment and belives! Kisses …
I don’t buy it. Just the fact that you know several fa’afine’s seems like too many are put into such a role. It just sounds like you are too indoctrinated by your society to see what is really going on around you.
No, we do not glorify it, we make them comfortable. We are not going to single them out and tell them that they are wrong. That breaks a child’s spirit. I know plenty about transgender people. My brother is transgender and I know several fa’afafine’s. You knowledge on the subject is lax. You need to educate yourself; and fast!
No, you are the one who has no clue as to what is going on. You look at a 3 minute clip of 1 family and think that’t how life is in Samoa and you are dead wrong. You wouldn’t be the first not to understand another culture. You’re American and for the most part cannot help it. However, all fa’afafine’s are not raised that way, just a selcat few. As I’ve said before, transgender kids know they are that way as toddlers. You all make them feel uncomfortable whereas we make them feel loved.
Like I said, yo uhave no clue what you are talking about. You are on the outside looking in and no matter how many people try to explain it to you, you don’t get it.
The way you portray it, praising it as the best and purest, makes you sound brainwashed, just like someone from a religious cult would praise their leader, no matter how ridiculous it is.
I think the issue is that you need to step outside the community for a while, to be able to see what’s going on!!!
It’s probably because you are in it, that you can’t really understand what is going on from any other view, that being in it, and raised into beleiving it.
Ever heard the saying “can`t see the forest for the trees”?
I highly suggest that you read about transgender people. They know when they are toddlers. If a toddler boy knows that he is in the wrong body, he will be treated as a girl, who he claims to be. Like I said, you know nothing of my culture and you are just an ethnocentric person.
When you’re not Samoan, you’re on the outsidfe looking in and you just don’t quite get it. I don’t know how many times I have tried to explain it. It’s ethnocentricity in its purest form.
realistic homeboy. The issue is more complex than what it is conveyed through the documentary we are only given a brief insight lol..it dosent mean that a boy is going to pick up a doll and then all of a sudden hes going to be raised as transgendered ..the issue is more complex and being someone who is observing from outside you will never fully grasp the understanding of the concept because you look at it through western eyes and thats all i have to say for now lol
Amen to AngelMarieFox lol…you try and explain to some palagi’s over and over again but they will never GET IT lol …no matter how simple u put it …it will always be analized in a Western Culture framework …

Have you considered complaining to the people who made this video? It’s misrepresenting compared to your views.

I’m not an american. I’m european.
As I’ve said before, you seem to know nothing about trans gender people.
I know a few. I am not gay, but have several gay friends. I accept them as any other person, and in fact simply don’t see them any different.
You OBVIUOSLY make being a transgender into something glorious, so kids want to be one, and parents encourage them into the role.
For some it’s fine, for many it’s the wrong choice. There are just too many for it to be the right choice.

Like I said, you have no clue what you are talking about. You are on the inside, not looking at it in relation to anything else in the real world.
Take a step out, get some experience.

I highly suggest that you meet some transgender people, instead of just reading and watching videos about it.
Most of these people are OBVIUOSLY pressed into a gender role in which they do not belong, only because of the community.

It is very obvious that they are NOT just treating the kids the way they are. They are putting the gender roles onto the kid.
Just because a boy plays with a doll, it doesn’t mean that he should start being treated as a girl.
A little boy does not know that he is in the wrong body. MOST of these people are only transgender because their society made them so.
You need to realize that.
